SummaryThe organisation offers continuing professional development training for RGN’s and Healthcare Assistants in primary care settings, specifically in improving practice in managing cardio-metabolic disease. The programme has already been delivered in 19 out of 22 LHB’s across Wales and links are set up across the region with Chronic Disease Nurse Facilitators and LHB trainers.
Delivery summaryTraining comprises: •pre course reading and a quiz to assess prior knowledge •a full day of class room based training, with group work, didactic delivery and a follow up quiz to confirm new knowledge. •the option of a follow up tutorial for the preparation of the reflective journal and case studies elements. •one to one support for the preparation of evidence to meet the assessment criteria, on line, by phone, email and visit. Training is limited to delivery by someone with a minimum of RGN status. Current delivery is by two nurses with senior nurse CHD and diabetes experience, one of whom has a PGCE.
